National High School Federation (NHSF) Baseball Rules will be enforced, with the following exceptions:
1. Home team: Home team shall be determined by a coin flip between coaches, and the home team will be the official scorebook.
2. Game arrival: Teams should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to game time and be prepared to begin their game early if circumstances allow. There will be 20 minutes between each game.
3. Time limit: No inning can start after two hours. Each game will be played in 7 innings or until the time expires. If the game is a tie at the end of the 2-hour time limit - it will be ruled a tie. The umpires will keep time.
4. Bracket/elimination games: In the 9th inning and beyond, teams will begin with a runner on second base and no outs.
5. Run rules: 12 runs after 4 innings and 8 runs after 5 innings.
6. Batting lineup: Lineups can consist of 9 or 10, or 11 batters. The lineup must stay with the selected amount for the entire game. If used, the 10th hitter will be designated as an EH and the 11th hitter as the XH on the lineup card. You can also use a DH as provided for in NHSF rules. If both coaches agree, you can continuously hit your entire roster; however, if for any reason, including injury or ejection, a player does not hit in their original spot - an out will be recorded for that spot. You can make free defensive substitutions.
7. Roster use: You can make free defensive substitutions and you can use a courtesy runner for the pitcher and catcher. Players cannot switch teams mid-tournament, including when their team has been eliminated.
8. Pitching: While we do not have pitching limits, we strongly suggest following MLB/USA Baseball's pitch count limits and rest recommendations.
9. Equipment: Each team is responsible for its game balls (High School Federation or College Approved). Only wooden and wood-composite (Baum/Bamboo) bats allowed .
10. Turf fields: Molded cleats or turf shoes must be worn at turf fields. No sunflower seeds or gum are allowed at turf fields. Turf fields include, but are not limited to, Belmont/Rose Park, Cumberland, Friendship Christian, Hendersonville/Drakes Creek, Oakland, Riverdale, Lipscomb Academy and Vanderbilt.
11. Dugouts: Please have your team clean the dugouts after your game.
12. I/O and cage access: There will be no infield/outfield. Fields may or may not allow use of their cages.
13. Umpires: We partner with TruBlu, the most reputable umpire association in Middle Tennessee, for tournament umpire assignments.
14. Sportsmanship: The tournament committee reserves the right to eject any person for unruly or unsportsmanlike behavior. Anyone ejected twice during the tournament will be banned for the remainder of the tournament.
15. Parking: All individuals park at their own risk.
16. Not covered in the Rules: If any item is not covered, the Tournament Director will make the fairest possible ruling, and that ruling will be final.
